Singing Assembly Morning Choir Tasters

Whether you're an experienced singer looking for a non-formal choir,  a curious novice, perhaps a little rusty or looking for a new hobby or activity to give you a buzz in the week, joining this morning choir will give you a feel-good buzz in the middle of the week. 

There is much research showing how beneficial singing can be for body and soul. Absolutely all ages are welcome to this group. Make some time to feel good and help create a sense of community. 

All choirs are different. You just won't know until you come along and try it out. 

Choose what to pay for one or two taster sessions. It really helps Emily as a solo freelance practitioner, to book here or if you need to,  come with cash or card on the day.

Emily is an experienced community musician who loves to get people singing in harmony together. Many people believe that they can't sing, or they have had a negative experience around their voice but they are missing out on the natural joy of making music together. She will  show you how much is achievable in a friendly non-judgemental environment where people who sing together also laugh together, and quite a lot!

Starting with breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, fun games and ditties this will lead on to simple chants and short songs and rounds followed by unaccompanied songs from oral traditions in two- or three-part harmony. Variety will range across gorgeous gospel and blues, fascinationg folk, wonderful world music and satisfying sing-a-long tunes, plus special pieces tailored for mixed ability choirs. Whilst it's great to build skills week on week, many songs will be achievable in a single session whilst others will need longer to learn. Something for everyone.

All songs will be taught clearly acapella. There are no auditions or solos. You do not need to read music.
